1. China-Myanmar NGO Partnership and the “Kyaukphyu Anargat” Project in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, Myanmar.
Since 2023, the “Kyaukphyu Anargat” Project has been implemented annually in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, Myanmar, through a collaborative partnership between Chinese and Myanmar non-governmental organizations. The project primarily focuses on mangrove reforestation and natural resource management, guided by the following key objectives:
Project Objectives
1. Enhancing the Capacity of Civil Society Organizations
To strengthen the institutional and operational capacities of civil society organizations, enabling them to actively and effectively engage in environmental conservation and community development efforts.
2. Promoting Community Awareness and Engagement in Mangrove Restoration.
To raise awareness among local communities about the ecological importance of mangroves and encourage their active participation in restoration and protection activities.
3. Empowering Communities and Promoting Sustainable Livelihoods.
To empower local communities through participatory approaches and support the development of environmentally sustainable, income-generating activities.
4. Enhancing Environmental Resilience and Disaster Preparedness.
To promote environmentally responsible practices that mitigate ecological degradation and strengthen community resilience to natural disasters.
5. Fostering Collaboration and Strategic Partnerships.
To build and strengthen coordination among key stakeholders—including government agencies, civil society organizations, and local communities—for the effective and sustainable implementation of environmental initiatives.
Target Areas and Scope
The project targets 100 acres of mangrove plantation and 100 acres of Natural Forest Improvement Operations (NFIO) on an annual basis.
